I'm running Novell Desktop Linux 9 (which is just SuSE), using a stock 2.6.10 kernel downloaded from kernel.org. AMD XP3000+ with 512Meg ram and an ATI Radeon 9800Pro video card, using framebuffer graphics. To date, things have been working great. 0.92.1 is working fine. It was when I downloaded and compiled 0.94 that the problems began. I've run advscan, and have my ROMs up to date for 0.94. I compiled advmame first with gcc 3.3.5, but I noticed that Andrea compiles under 2.95.3, so I downgraded gcc to 2.95.3 and recompiled, with no apparent changes in behavior. Two examples are: milliped starts, and seems to run for about 3 seconds, then freezes. I can remote login and kill advmame to get back to the console. Running tempest, again, the game starts, just long enough that I see the Tempest screen, then it crashes w/ segmentation violation. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this. I'm not near the machine right now, so I can't post a stack trace, but would be happy to do so, or to recompile w/ debugging and play w/ gdb, etc. -Chris ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
