Since you're running a VGA monitor on your cabinet, set-up is pretty easy. There is no reason to create the advmame.rc file on another computer and copy it over. You can run `advcfg -advmamec` to do the initial video mode set-up for your monitor. It's a good idea if you know the exact frequencies for the monitor you're using, although advcfg has a pretty decent list to get you started if you don't. This will create an advmame.rc file with the video clocks and at least a couple of modelines to get you started. From there, running `advmame -default` will fill-in the rest of the advmame.rc file. A lot of the settings stored in advmame.rc can be changed from in advmame itself, but for the rest you can edit the file in any text editor. This all assumes you have a full installation of the software on the cabinet. The AdvanceCD project is meant for booting on PC's with multisync monitors; I don't think customizing it to drive an arcade monitor would be a simple undertaking. If it's a dedicated cabinet, you could really use a nerd friend that could help you get it set-up to run under Linux with svgalib or a graphical framebuffer [not X and definitely not Windows]. ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Tame your development challenges with Apache's Geronimo App Server.
