Hi Simon, How'd you find a 2GHz computer with an AGP slot for your G400? Seems like most "newer" computers that fast only come with PCI slots. I have an old HP with an AGP slot, but it only runs at 466Mhz. -- Eric Robinson -----Original Message----- From: Simon Tetu [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, October 31, 2008 8:54 AM To: Robinson, Eric Cc: advancemame-users-5NWGOfrQmneRv+LV9MX5uipxlwaOVQ5f@public.gmane.org Subject: Re: [advancemame-users] AdvMAME Opens in Tiny Window Hi Eric, I used to run quite well any game prior to 1990 on AdvanceMame on a Pentium 2 300Mhz (overclocked to 333) which used an ATI Rage Xpert98. I was using DOS on it though so it would boot instantaneously and have the least footprint on the system. I'd say your setup could run most games up until 1995 if you ran the DOS version of Advmame. (Of course I've since upgraded my cabinet to a P4 2.0Ghz and a Matrox G400 so I could run Linux on it, play more emulators and have Internet access but that's another story) Good luck and have patience, it will pay off. I don't know if this applies to AdvMAME as well. I have Linux (2.6.9.34) installed on an 800MHz Dell with 384MB RAM and an ATI Radeon 7500 card. When I start MAME, it opens in a tiny 2" window. If I try to use AdvMAME's features to make the window bigger, the game's frame rate slows down to a crawl. If I switch to "full screen mode" the game (1943kai) gets bigger and runs at normal speed, but it still leaves about 1.5 inches of black screen at the top and bottom. Is there anything I can do to make to games run full screen at normal speed aside from buying a much faster computer? > > --Eric > > > Disclaimer - October 31, 2008 > This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for advancemame-users-5NWGOfrQmneRv+LV9MX5uti2KpX7p8Fi@public.gmane.org If you are not the named addressee you should not disseminate, distribute, copy or alter this email.
