Try to build and run AdvMAME using the fb driver, with X completely not running, and you will see dramatically better video performance. I'm afraid my detailed set of tip and tricks is too distant in the past, but a few details of my system are here: =20 =09 http://cocula/content/cocktail-table-arcade-machine <http://cocu.la/content/cocktail-table-arcade-machine>=20 =09 John =09 On Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 7:13 AM, Robinson, Eric <eric.robinson-JiDY2OCN/[email protected]> wrote: > Newbie here! > > I was told that MAME works well on low-power computers. I don't know if this applies to AdvMAME as well. I have Linux (2.6.9.34) installed on an 800MHz Dell with 384MB RAM and an ATI Radeon 7500 card. When I start MAME, it opens in a tiny 2" window. If I try to use AdvMAME's features to make the window bigger, the game's frame rate slows down to a crawl. If I switch to "full screen mode" the game (1943kai) gets bigger and runs at normal speed, but it still leaves about 1.5 inches of black screen at the top and bottom. Is there anything I can do to make to games run full screen at normal speed aside from buying a much faster computer? > > --Eric =09 =09 Disclaimer - November 3, 2008=20 =09 This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for John W.
