Re: AdvMAME Opens in Tiny Window

I'd agree with Simon's assessment about CPU abilities.  You may also find 
that older versions of Mame run faster than the more recent releases.

Using an Athlon XP 2100 CPU with Matrox G400 AGP card and DOS based Advmame 
version .105 with Advmenu I can run pretty much any 2D,  non .CHD game in 
fullscreen fullspeed on my dedicated cab.  It seems to slow to just below 
fullspeed running Area 51.  All the 3D accelerated games run at a crawl 
however.

You can probably find and old motherboard and CPU with AGP slot and 2 GHz 
CPU pretty cheaply on Craigslist.  Socket A motherboards all have AGP slots 
and, depending on chipset, can take up to a Athlon XP 3200+ CPU.  Socket 754 
MB's can take Athlon 64's as well.  I don't know much about Intel MB's, but 
I assume they are also widely available and cheap used.  I just searched on 
the local Portland, OR craigslist and found the following for $100:
