I use 4.1 (actually, I use what's in CVS) and I don't install it as a site 
package.  Instead I do something like what you're describing.  The 
runlyntin script is in the scripts directory.  If you do some minor 
tweaking of that file, you can then stick it wherever you want and it'll 
launch Lyntin just fine.

And it works fine with additionaly command-line options.  So:

    runlyntin
    runlyntin --ui tk

should both work fine.

Well, your reasons are right on.  The advantage to the site-package is 
that it allows you to do one installation for multiple people to use. 
Though I have no idea if anyone's done that.  It also enables us to build 
the win32 installation package.
