Hi there! I haven't mudded in ages but I've been using Lyntin as an IRC client for a while now. Anyway, a friend was fiddling around with mIRC functions and came across $chr() (which returns an ascii character given a number). It's all fun and games until he gets to $chr(129) - and then my buffer just /stops udating/. Everything still WORKS mind, I can tail -f my logs to keep up with the conversation and still talk, just nothing more shows up in Lyntin. I haven't checked CVS (I'm running 4.1.1), but the problem was still present when I unloaded my custom modules. Oddly enough, #showme <ALT-129> doesn't cause a problem - it's only when the character is recieved from the mud. A bit about my setup - I'm running win2k, and have a test "server" that I wrote in perl which just listens on a socket and gives me basic two-way communication. Now, if I hit alt-129 in lyntin the character shows up as a u with 2 dots above it, but the "mud" recieves a superscript n. When I copy/paste the superscript n in the console to send it back to lyntin it shows up as the u with 2 dots again. If I paste the superscript n into lyntin's CommandEntry widget it doesn't accept the command (I hit enter and nothing happens. unless i double-tap enter, then lyntin crashes). Alt-129 in the win2k console shows up as the u with 2 dots, and if I send this to lyntin the buffer stops updating. 129 = 0x0081. 0x0081 appears to be a Unicode control character of sorts (HIGH OCTET PRESET?), which I suspect is involved, but I haven't been able to reproduce the problem with a basic python gui I whipped up and I haven't even begun understand the subtleties of different character encodings. So I thought I'd see if anyone else had any ideas :) (I hope that was understandable) ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by Oracle Space Sweepstakes Want to be the first software developer in space?
