I've updated my UrwidUI for lyntin to add support for non-session
windows: windows that are not associated with a particular session. This
allows one to, for example, log tells to multiple characters to a single
window or some such.

I've added some other odds and ends that I can't think of off the top of
my head, but hopefully its a bit of an improvement.

I strongly suggest that you upgrade to the latest version of urwid
(http://www.excess.org/urwid/) and apply the input handling patch
(http://excess.org/urwid/patch-0.8.7.2.diff). This will solve a really
annoying bug where, urwid waits for one second after you hit the <esc>
key to ensure that you are not the begining a control sequence.

Download it and give it a whirl:

A user interface for Lyntin based on the urwid UI toolkit.

Features:
  + per-session windows with scrollback
+ simple color support (normal and bold colors, black background only)
  + per-session command histories
  + VI-like keybindings
+ non-session windows (windows created by the user & not tied to a
session)

To be implemented:
  + underline attribute support
+ granular snoop (one can pick which sessions one wants to snoop on)
+ configurable coloring for lyntin messages
  + configurable scrollback buffer size
  + user defined keybindings
  + per-session keybindings

Credits:
I stole some code & ideas from textui (general stuff) and
cursesui (ansi color handling) written by willg & glassnake
respectively. Everything else was written by davidc (me).

Notes:

  Urwid toolkit issue:

Due to an issue with urwid 0.8.7 or lower, you have to wait approx.
one second after you hit <Esc> before urwid decides that you really
do want to just hit <Esc> and are not entering a control sequence.
I've talked with the urwid maintainer (ian ward, ian at exess.org)
and he says that these problems will be fixed in the next release.
In the mean time, he's released a patch with a rework of urwid's
input handling that addresses this issue.

    the patch:

       http://excess.org/urwid/patch-0.8.7.2.diff

  UI windows:

There's no good way to tie the closing of a session associated window,
to the zapping of one (without modifying/replacing zap), so for now,
when you zap a session, the window remains, and you have to close it
  separately.

Currently, the only way one can use use windows in any way other than
the classical "session window" sense, is to write to it using the
#window command. I would like to eventually allow text to be
redirected or copied to windows, but I dont know if I can do that
without modifying lyntin itself...we'll see (I haven't really looked
  at it much).

  Other:

There seems to be some UI lockup bug that I haven't been able to track
down. It happens sporadically for me...hopefully it wont for you. If
it does, and you've got some ideas as to what it might be, please let
  me know.
