This should happen with all the ui's as well as on all platforms. This problem has been reported before and ... I think Conan and I were hunting it down way back when, but I forget all the details at this point. I think it had to do with muds that don't handle the Telnet ECHO stuff properly. There should be material in the mailing list archives. Regardless, it should be in the network layer. Mudecho is a configuration variable that you can flick on and off independent of what the mud sends you. So you have a couple of possible quick-fix options. You can comment out the echo handling code in the tkui or you can create an alias that resets the mudecho configuration variable and run the alias after you log in.
