Here are my top 10 Ho! tips:

1. Guard your metal with your life; once you're out, you're dead.

2. Guard your metal with your life; once you're out, you're dead. Yes, I'm
repeating myself.

3. Don't fall behind in fighting tech; it's really hard to catch up. There
are different tech strategies (high speed, high weapons, no shields or high
weapons, high shields, or really high shields, etc.); pick one and keep at
it.

4. Everything, and I mean *everything* in Ho! runs on the rules of
diminishing returns. Contributing a little every turn is much better than a
lot all at once, when you have the luxury of doing it.

5. Don't underestimate speed tech. Not only does it allow you to move around
quicker (hit and run) but faster ships shoot first, which is often an
important advantage.

6. Scrap obsolete ships. Beware of thinking: "I'll just use this fleet for
one or two more attacks, even though it's 2 weapon techs behind." It's
usually times like that in the next battle you see your entire fleet
destroyed "with no information." Bye, bye, all that glorious metal.

7. Concentrate your fighting power. 5 satellites at 5 planets is probably
not as good as 25 satellites at one planet. Sure, you might lose a planet
that is undefended, but if the attacker hits your big defense, you will
(hopefully) crush his fleet completely with little loss. (You may need 50 or
100 satellites rather than 25, but you get the idea.)

8. Don't expand too fast. If you're trying to make too many planets
profitable at the same time, it'll take too long. A good rule is: don't try
to terraform more planets than you have that are already profitable or baby
booming.

9. Try to make the first planet you try to terraform between .6-1.8G and
less than 100 degrees off. Skip past the 1.01G planet that is 450 degrees.

10. And again: guard your metal with your life; once you're out, you're
dead.
