I am also fairly new to GRAMPS but the way I have structured my media is as follows: SURNAME (followed by) Year of Birth (followed by) Christian Names (followed by) - (followed by) Date of Media ie what it refers to not when I got it (followed by) Details (followed by) Place, etc

So some examples might be:

SMITH 1900 John James - 1945 Census, London, England

BROWN 1956 Mary Jane - 2020 05 06 Death Certificate, Manchester, London

The advantage of this is it is listed in Alpha and date order so make for easy reference, etc

Also look at the option of adding information in "Comments" within jpeg files. If you want more info email me direct.

Cheers

Les

Subject: [Gramps-users] Organization Help

Hello!

I am new to Gramps but I am already loving this application. My question

is: how do you organize your supportive documents?

Currently, I have digital folders split up by surname with subfolders...etc. I also have a folder with news clippings labeled by publication as well as Census documents. I would like to start adding media to Gramps but my goal is to keep all of my materials in one location to make it easier to backup to a portable drive for redundancy.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to manage all of the supporting documents (images) to make this process smoother as my collection grows larger?

Thank you for your time.

Jaime :)
