In Places, I have created the US states with their full names (New Jersey) and their codes (NJ).

In the ancestors chart and the descendant charts, I would like the place of birth/marriage/death to show the State code instead of the full name, like: Woonsocket, RI
(Woonsocket, Rhode Island and Providence would be too long)

Is there a substitution value or format string to do this, or any other way, please?

Of course I could replace the states' full names by their codes, but as a non-USan I would have difficulty with some of them, like MA ME MI MO MD...

I have also the same question for international country codes (Czech Republic / CZ).

And a separate question about setting up a proper places hierarchy:
In the US, as hierarchy I just use City<Sate<Country, and skip County. What are the disadvantages and risks, other than a rare case of two cities with same name in same state but different counties?

Thank you.
dan - using AIO32-5.1.5-1 on win10 and win7.
