Well, this IS the "user" maillist where the user community responds to question by other users. We are all 'lay people'

The Developer maillist is gives more authoritative answers about technical issues.

But while the project has an administrator, an architect and a webmaster; in 20 years we evidently haven't felt the need to build that much authority structure into the administration side. (Nick Hall is our "benevolent dictator" but that might be because he didn't run quickly enough when nominated. He does not rule with an iron fist but he's herded the cats pretty well.) The energy has been put into code, developer docs & user documentation quality instead.

Thank you for your response here.

The statements are better, when they are qualified.

I think that when a developer makes statements about a product, it would 
be helpful, if the developer would include the qualification, that the 
person is a developer, and so, give authority to what the person says, 
rather than simply appearing to be another lay person.

I think also, that the information would be useful to include, both in 
the description of the features of GRAMPS, on the web site, and, in the 
wiki, and, possibly, assuming that the GRAMPS project people are 
responsible for maintaining it, the Wikipedia web page about GRAMPS.

I am one of many people who do not follow fora, preferring mailing 
lists, and, when appropriate, "looking things up" on Wikipedia; and, 
where something like GRAMPS, has a wiki, perusing the wiki.

So, I think that inclusion of this information, would be useful to 
include in those three media.

Thence, also, arises the question; thus far, the reference has been to 
GRAMPS not "syncing" with ancestry.com; what about myheritage.com; does 
the same scenario apply?
