Note that a multitude of threads exist in the Gramps Discourse discussion forum about this subject. (22 results searching for the quoted search term " ship" -- which includes a leading space to exclude false matches with common Gramps terms like 'relationship'.) https://gramps.discourse.group/t/welcome-to-the-gramps-discourse-forum/7 I use a matched set of bookend Emigration and Immigration events for emigration by sea. The Places for those document the dates with embarking and disembarking ports. The 'description' holds the ship name, its shipmaster and the intended destination or origination port. If intermediary ports of call are known, these bookend events may encompass 'waypoint' events. These Events are 'shared' with 'Primary' roles for all the Persons. (Or as 'Family' roles and events if both spouses participated.) If a person died (or was born) en route, they only share one of the 2 bookend Events. The death places are "at sea" where, if known, the particular body of water is specified. (So "Outer Banks of North Carolina, Atlantic Ocean" is enclosed by 'at sea'.) I waffle on ships as pseudoPlaces or as pseudoPersons. Each has benefits and drawbacks. At the moment, Person appeals. You can make a Family with the shipmaster and his pseudoSpouse, the ship. The crew can be family members.
