Hi Rudolf, You are using Gramps 4.2.5 version from 2016 and I am MUCH more familiar with the updated 5.x versions. However, they have much in common. We need some more information to attack your problem in the right way. You say "corrupt" but do not say what Gramps actually reports when trying to load the Tree. Does it say Locked or Corrupt? (I would expect 'Locked' if you shut down the computer without closing Gramps. 'Corrupt' if you shut down while Gramps was doing updates to the Tree.) The recovery is different for each. The copying of a Gramps Tree database files so that you can use external database recovery tools is a third (and much more complicated) task.
