It does, indeed.  Excellent software it is, IMO.

From "Manage Trees" in the Family Trees menu, create a new database.
Name it as you see fit.

Open the newly created database and go to Family Trees menu "Import..."
Once the file requester opens, navigate to the .gpkg file you wish to
import and select/import it.  Note that this may take some time
depending on size of database being imported.  A progress bar will
give a rough indication of progress.
