These are backup files of your database (excludinging media files). If you
ever have a problem, like a computer crash, the last file created would a
much needed file to recreate your tree..

I move these files to a thumb drive away from the hard drive. I keep about
a month worth of the files and delete the older files.

On the Family Tree tab in your Preferences (menu >> Edit >> Preferences)
you can turn this option off.
