In order to plot Events for Persons or Families in the Geography views or the output from the Heat Map report addon, the Places must have GPS coordinates. Without coordinates, the Map Services will have no location for Pin placement.
See https://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Gramps_5.2_Wiki_Manual_-_Categories#Map_Service
The basic Place editor only has manual of coordinates or marking a spot on a map and associating that spot with a Place.
Since that is a tedious process, several addons have been created to simplify the process. Most look up Coordinates (from gazetteers or online repositories) and populate the Place definitions. That might include coordinates, enclosing places, Place names in history or various languages.

Hallo,
I did a new installation of Gramps (Version AIO64-5.2.3-r1-aa03f5a ) on
a Windows 10 system and also of the gramplets like Heatmap and Ahnenkarte.
When I try to plot my ancestors in the map, nothing but the simple basic
map is shown, but no persons in it.
Even in the Heatmap filter menu I choosed the option 'ancestors of ...' .
Does anyone has an idea what can help?
Best regards,
Peter
