No.  Write decent, standards compliant code, then *anyone* can use the
site, if they wish.

Also, *why* would anyone go to a web site, login, search forums, then
messages etc. when you can have all that done by simply polling for
mail? (Don't answer - it's a rhetorical question)  It simply doesn't
make sense.

Web forums are, in no sense of the word, better than mailing lists.
