Hi Paul, Russell,

by pure coincidence, I just wanted to plot plate boundaries using the same file myself and struggled a bit (should read my own blog I suppose)... However, the command you specify below works for me as expected on Mac OS X 10.9 using 5.1.2_r13178 [64-bit], it also did work on older version. Maybe some file encoding issues?

This feature was implemented by Paul in early Feb 2012 (going by my email), not sure which GMT version this corresponds to but I reckon it was an early GMT 5 version. So it's been around for a bit.

@Paul: related to this - why is it necessary to specify the symbol size in the call to psxy when it is specified for all segment headers? When I try to call "gmt psxy -S" on that very same file Russ is quoting, I get:

psxy: Segment header tries to switch to a line symbol like quoted line or fault - ignored

Also, it seems that there are some stray fault symbols being plotted on the left side of the map beyond the map boundaries, see attached PS/PDF file.

Command:
gmt psxy -JN180/22 -Rg PB2002_boundaries.gmt -W0.5p,red -Sf0.25/3p -Gred -Ba30 > out.ps

[GMT5 version as specified above]

Cheers,
Christian
