I find autostart to be quite handy for setting unique environment variables, 
user-specific mouse configurations etc. but I could never do without session 
management. I rely on things coming back exactly where I left off when i go 
back into kde (I don't even close my browsers so they come back with the same 
tabs at the same spots)  :)
