This behaviour might be correct if the network traffic counters in / 
proc only update every second (or maybe only every other second) while  
gkrellm is polling them more than once per second. I'm experiencing  
something similar with my linux based server on my internal nic as  
well. The overall data transmitted is counted correctly for me so I  
think it's just a matter of when gkrellm updates its display and when  
the kernel updates its /proc files.
