I have found the reason for the problem now, the number of "disk names" and the number of checked devices differ as soon as one device contains no medium. Having no medium also menas having no "disk name" because the current code mistakenly uses the "medium name" as the "disk name". I have a first hacky change that works as long as every storage device has a different "product name" but it will break as soon as you add two identical disks to the system. I'm currently thinking about a way to identify drives in a reliable way but the only thing I found so far is the path inside the io registry which looks like this: IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0/AppleACPIPCI/PCIB@1E/IOPCI2PCIBridge/FRWR@3/AppleFWOHCI/IOFireWireController/IOFireWireDevice@d04b9c0808df4d/IOFireWireUnit/IOFireWireSBP2Target/IOFireWireSBP2LUN/com_apple_driver_Oxford_Semi_FW934_DSB/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceNub/IOSCSIPeripheralDeviceType00/IOBlockStorageServices/IOBlockStorageDriver I highly doubt that I can use that as a key inside gkrellm, it will probably break the config-file format due to its excessive length. Btw, I also fixed the read/write values, the code was using "number of writes" instead of "number of bytes written", although both values were fetched from the OS.
