Sorry - minutes after I sent that, I figured it all out.  Not sure if  
it is intentional, but unpacking into .../ProgramFiles/GKrellM/ worked,  
but elsewhere (using the long name from the zip file) did not.  I also  
found notes on Stephen's site that the external apps (MBM depracated,  
SpeedFan or CoreTemp) are optional.  Initially, at least, it seems to  
work fine.  (Windows 7 Professional, 32 bit, I'll test later on a  
Windows Vista system also.)
