There is no installer yet. As written, I am still working on that part.

Apart from some fancy start menu entries and optional registration of
gkrellmd as a windows service there is no need to install GKrellM at
all. One can basically unzip one of the above archives somewhere and
then run gkrellm.exe from the bin directory.

This sounds like major mixup of an existing installation and the newer
archives. Don't unzip those archive contents into an existing GKrellM
installation directory.

This does not sound correct. You should be able to unzip the archive in
your Downloads folder (or somewhere else) and be able to double click
gkrellm.exe.
