In my opinion, no. I bet with some effort it is indeed possible to
misunderstand it as "pick three units of measure", but normally not. 

Think of the plural this way: "This unit of measure is used allover the
program, so all the _units_ I see in various places in this program are
inches."

Then again, I'm not a native English speaker.
