Understood.  If you care to share your thoughts, I'm game to take a
look....  Similarly if you care to make the patches, I'll happily test
them.  

I have a program (rungq) to contribute to a sourceforge project I've
been doing some work on (http://wacsip.sourceforge.net) just as soon as
gqview doesn't choak on a (large) typical search results set.
