If it's a fork where the existing maintainer(s) ask that you not fork,
then of course you need the name.  But if it's more a new group of
maintainers taking over with no objection from the community, then I
don't see why it's necessary.

A precedent is guile-pg which was on sourceforge until 0.07 and is now
maintained by ttn-K5/[email protected]

Perhaps you could explain here what you've done to try to have this be a
friendly maintainer change and see if anyone on the list objects to you
using the name gqview.  My impression is that you've been more than
adequately diligent.
