Feature request: folder thumbnail and browsing

Dear developers,

Thanks for such a great program, GQview is absolutely the best image
viewer for Linux! However, there's one (two-part) feature I'd really
love to have, and I'm sure others would find it useful, too.


Part A:

A mode in which subfolders would appear amongst image thumbnails in the
files window, making it possible to traverse directory tree with Enter /
Backspace keys *while* browsing through images. Such navigation is
possible in the directory tree window (for some reason enter cannot be
used to un-collapse (proper term?) directory nodes), but it's
frustrating to use Tab to switch between windows.

Part B:

Thumbnail images for folders! Something like a collage of four different
images inside that folder combined into one (perhaps first, second,
second to last and last image). I have houndreds of image archives with
numbers (starting from 001) for directory names, and this feature would
make browsing them much easier.


So, what do you thing? I'm not sure how much programming and changes to
the underlying code this would require, but it certainly is a feature I
would value. I know the Thumbnail managing standard has nothing to do
with folder thumbnails, but that's not really a problem, is it?
