The folder highlights and if I wait a few seconds, the folder icon
changes from closed to open.  There doesn't seem to be much change in
the responsiveness of highlighting in while generating thumbs vs.
sitting idle.  It also seems like holding it longer increases the
chance of the menu popping up.  I was too hasty in saying the menu
never pops up while generating thumbs, it's just much less likely to
pop up.
