Root image suggestions

If this is new 1.5.x series, please let me know. I did not quickly see a
changelog.

I want a background image manager that provides a file browser for
selecting images, same file browser also displays the selected image in a
small window (maybe same window), and once an image is selected be able to
set it as the root image in a few formats: centered on desktop, tiled,
stretched/scaled to fill desktop.

I see that gqview has mostly of what I want.

But when I used it, it distorted the image when scaled. The changelog from
0.8.0 - 4/6/2000 said "Scales in 'fit to window mode', tiles in all
others" but I didn't see that option for tiling. Nor did I see a way to
center the image.

Here are my suggestions:

- Add the choice to put on root menu directly from the right-click menu
(not from edit menu since it is not an editing feature).

- Then add features from that "Display on desktop root ..." to set the
root image to be 1) centered on desktop, 2) tiled (which could have
various choices); and 3) stretched/scaled to fill desktop.

- If possible, it would be nice to have a configuration option that when
the root image is selected that it will save that pathname to that image
to ${HOME}/.gqview/root-image-filename. So then I could later have way to
set the root image based on that filename.

I have been looking for a simple tool for my wife to use for selecting a
background image.

(The other idea I have is for it to randomly select an image, maybe from
the history? Not to have gqview running constantly though.)

If there is a better place to share suggestions, please let me know.
