So I think we can finally declare step one complete! I've been working on the live migration for the last couple of days after finishing the test run, and all in all it went according to plan.

1) Test repository is now removed
2) Old "main" repository renamed to "mc-old" and archived
3) New "main" repository is renamed to "mc" and is live

We've even got our first issue via GitHub (a duplicate, of course).

I've reconfigured the old Trac server to redirect anonymous users to GitHub where appropriate. Authorized users will be able to view old Trac data (but ticket modification should now be disabled) until the server is decommissioned.

I've open-sourced the core of my migration framework (type-safe Trac RPC client for Python):

I have also open sourced a type-safe Python client for the unofficial GitHub API for importing issues:

I'm not sure if I'll be able to open source more (and if it's applicable in a broader context anyway).

Of course there's still a lot of work to be done to get rid of Trac completely, but I'm very happy with the first step. The next step would be the website/wiki migration. If you find any problems, please let me know...
