But i still fail to see the problem. Did i miss something ?

When ctrol-o, the sleep command is put into background (stalled). Isn't that simply expected behavior as per program code ?

Let me ask differently: 

* Is there any shell /emulator at all, where this does not happen ? 

* And how do you imagine that to work better. Should commands be actively running in the mc bg shell while back to the ncurses screen ? Why ?
