As Mikael said, we're not even sure that it's possible to create a
statically linked binary of MrProject, and if it was, it would certainly
not be a simple task. 

We have limited resources and time, and there are a lot more useful
things to do, like fixing bugs and implementing missing features. If
someone else wants to create a statically linked version, feel free...
This is free software :)

Actually, I think it's pretty fair these days to require a GNOME 2
platform installation. If you don't have one, you should ask your
distribution why ;).
