If you can not get Xft/fontconfig, you are not going to get
gnome-print>=2.2, which means you will not be able to get 0.9 to compile.

Usually installing Xft/fontconfig on a system which does not support it
will break fonts somewhere else ...

So, you probably need a more up-to-date distro.

Mandrake 9.0 does not do it even (no fontconfig till 9.1).
