Hello, I just bought a Motorola V180 (*) and I was trying to play with the USB connection. lsusb seems to see it properly. I then try looking for synchronization tools on linux. After a google search I found: http://dev.gentoo.org/~brix/papers/A920/A920.html Is this information still up to date ? Do I really need to install 'bind' and setup pppd as specified ? If so I have few -dummy- questions, I am on debian testing and I have installed bind. 2) I modified /etc/bind/named.conf as mentioned on the web page. But then I don't have no file called: /etc/bind/pri/mrouter.zone. Do I need a special package for this one ? Anyway I created this file, and try the next step. 3.1) It seems now that one cannot modified /etc/modules.conf (this is a generated file), so instead I typed: sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x22b8 product=0x4902 doing tail -f /var/log/messages did no shows up anything particular (scary). 3.2) /dev/ttyUSB0 does exist on my system. I then created a file /etc/ppp/peers/V180-USB as specified. But then when I try: sudo pppd call V180-USB nodetach I get: "Failed to open /dev/ttyUSB0: No such device" Is there somebody that has a motorola or has had the same problems as I have right now and is willing to help me ? thanks so much Mathieu (*) http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details/0,,55,00.html
