I've just got the evo2 plugin finally working and tried to sync with
Symbian K700i also.

Apart from a problem with the evo2 plugin not detecting telephone
numbers in the address book but the phone plugin doing so correctly
(therefore resulting in same-entry conflicts), I want to concur with the
previous post and say yes even with evo1 plugin I found loads of
whitespace added to address entries if going from phone to evolution
during sync.

This can really screw up your evolution address book and was a real
disappointment when I first tried multisync. You problem sounds
familiar. Now I don't trust my data with multisync for anything other
than 1) phone backups, and 2) evolution->symbian phone (and not in
reverse and definitely with a backup first).
