I'm not sure. What kinds of formatting should we then support? There are
so many possible options, where should we draw the line?

I do think automatically turning URLs into clickable links would be a good idea.

What do others think? 
Where is this on a scale from "critical feature" to "mere bloat"? 
Would you implement a certain subset?
