My installation problems were solved, thanks to Zoltan Kota's suggestions. i post a public answer here in the hope to be useful to others if they google to find an answer as I did. The correct rpms to be used for a Mandrake 10.0 are: ftp://bo.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/Mandrake/official/current/contrib/i586/pybliographer-1.2.2-1mdk.noarch.rpm ftp://bo.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/Mandrake/official/current/contrib/i586/python-bibtex-1.1.93.1-1mdk.i586.rpm were any other mirror can be obviously used. My mistake was to use unofficial rpms, that are designed for the upcoming version 10.1 of Mandrake. The lesson I learnt from this affaire is: there is a certain confusion among Linux distributions. The project for a more unified sort of distribution is, I believe, very sound indeed.
