Have you selected the needed entries in the main window first? You can
select one or more entry, or the whole set in the database file in the
main window and then Cite->Format should save them.
You can also use the script pybformat to export the whole database.

If you use text editors (like emacs or Openoffice :-), you can insert the
citation keys from pybliographer into the text by 'drag and drop' or
'copy and paste'.
Then you can save (as above) and insert the reference list after the text
body. Or you can run the pybtext script to process your text file (it
adds the reference list and replaces the keys in the text body).
You can also try pyblink which may help you to work with OpenOffice
(http://www.sonnet.dk/pyblink).
