Played around with this a bit more with gconf-editor, but have been unable to duplicate the bug. I think I'll wait a bit. If it happens again, I'll be sure to record the window sizes etc. and see if I can duplicate it reliably. Then a bug could be reported somewhere. If I never see it again, it's probably so rare that it's not worth bothering with, not to mention the fact that it'd be almost impossible to diagnose without being able to reproduce it!
