I was wondering, if anybody is interested in this topic:
What Make Valuable Contributors in open source community

We had a study on Gnome and Mozilla, please see our paper at:

Also, I was hoping, there is a way to get a copy of gnome bugzilla
database. I have tried very hard to request that, but no results. Super
disappointing, but I'm still trying.
