I guess the best way is to try fink, fink.sf.net
install the fink package manager and stuff and then
do "apt-get install bundle-gnome"
or something near, you'll have to look and read a bit

on a darwin-only system, I may be better off with
the darwinports since some fink packages have MacOSX
dependencies.  darwinports.opendarwin.org
again, install base stuff and "port install gnome-something"
just make an esound install first with puredarwin variant

All this is totally theoric.
The following will work for sure but with gnome-1.2

The GNU-Darwin distribution has gnome in its two steps installation =20
base distribution
but it is quite a few months old and thus install gnome-1.2
yves.gnu-darwin.org - look for news from 18 janvier at the bottom
no darwin-only triggers here - no sound on MacOSX either !
