problem with gdm

Hello,

I'm new on this list and I have some problems with GNOME 1.4.

Most of all I have a problem with gdm:
My normal "users" use bash as login shell, but now I made a guest
account, that uses a menu based login shell for the text console. 
This user can't log in with gdm. 
Why? How can I change this?

I now went back to xdm - there's no such problem.

System: Linux (Slackware 8.1)
