I am afraid that it would need some debugging and fixing the OOo source code. 
It would be better to track it in bugzilla.

Could you please report it at https://bugzilla.novell.com against the product 
OpenOffice.org? Please, mention there few more details:

	+ your operating system (Windows vs. Linux distro, i686 vs. x86_64)
	+ your desktop (KDE, GNOME, other) if you use a Linux distro
	+ where to get the problematic font, so we could try it here as well
