red-carpet 1.4 on solaris8

gday!

i am trying to update my ximian desktop 1 with red-carpet 1.4 on solaris 8
and i keep getting a funny message like:

"Since Tue, Jan 1st 1970, support for the ditribution you are running
(Solaris7) has been discintinued blah blah"

after this red-carpet just exits. i wonder where it gets this information
from cause i tried this with invalid proxy settings so there was no way it
could check for anything online.

and the most funny thing is, it works fine at home, where i have pretty much
the same setup.

does anyone have any ideas?
