Red Carpet dying in strange ways

I've been having nothing but trouble with the new Red Carpet/rcd/rug
modules since upgrading to XD2 on a Red Hat 9 box.  What usually happens
is that it will quietly die whenever I click on one of the tabs in the
main window (like "Installed Software", "Available Software", etc). At
other times, rcd will suddenly start chewing up 99% of the CPU time
(according to top), and the usual remedy is to issue an "/etc/init.d/rcd
restart". This most recent death actually produces an error message on
the console, so I thought I'd post and ask about it.

I'll start red-carpet from a root terminal, and from the Edit ->
Preferences window choose a mirror, then click the "refresh channel
data" button.  Then, when I click on the "Change your channel
subscriptions" menu icon it dies with the following:

It now does this reliably, but the first time this happened I also saw
this line in the console window, immediately after the above output:

	Fatal Python error: ceval: tstate mix-up

The RPMs installed are

	red-carpet-2.0.1-0.ximian.6.1.1
	rcd-1.4.3-0.ximian.6.1
	rug-1.4.3-0.ximian.6.1.1

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might track down the source of
these problems?
