Re: red-carpet doesn't ask for root password

I figured it out.

In the latest version of red-carpet (maybe even earlier versions),
there is a menu option for "Users".

So, first I start red-carpet as root. Then go to the Users menu item.
There I can configure my non-root user to be allowed to select
packages, run updates, etc.

Now, when I run red-carpet as non-root from the Ximian menu, it lets me
operate as a superuser within red-carpet.

It's actually a great feature, just something I didn't see documented
or know to look for.

Red carpet launches and shows me the system status (up to date or
requiring updates), however as non-root, it won't let me select any
packages to install/uninstall.

The only way I can use red carpet normally is to run red-carpet from a
shell as root.

i shouls also point out that u can create RC user with different
permissions, so that u don't have to run RC as root.
