Re: extremely slow startup times

This is an extremely lame suggestion, but how about you remove all your
config files and start again?

	rm -rf .gnome*

Or better yet, create a new user, log in as that user, and see what
happens?  Sometimes works for me in these situations.

The only time I've had a similar problem (and this is with the red
carpet devel version of gnome2) is when I started up the wireless
networking on my laptop, then tried to startX.  The work around was to
disabled the networking, startX, then enable it from a terminal.

Very odd. ;)
