I had the same problem too ... 

My Gnome was freezing when sawfish was never starting. I did not get the
latest sources (saddly I am required to finish some work and could not
hang around troubleshooting so I reverted to Gnome 1.4 for a few days).

My last snapshot set was from Friday the 18th of October (always picked
my snapshot using ximian red-carpet).

I hope this is sorted soon.
